It’s safe to say that I was meant to be in the mortgage industry. Now a branch manager and senior loan officer, I manage one of the most productive and awarded branches for SWBC Mortgage Corporation. While my extensive history in the business has surely led me to success, what has truly made me a standout among my peers is my affinity for helping people achieve their goals.
At the young age of five, my mother began her own mortgage career and worked her way up to an underwriter and, eventually, a branch manager. I grew up around my mother’s mortgage friends—loan officers, processors, and others—and even helped to type appraisals for some of my mother’s appraiser friends while I was in junior high.
After graduating high school in Baton Rouge and spending time at Louisiana State University, I moved to Hawaii, where I lived with my aunt while my uncle, a Sgt Major in the Marine Corp, did a tour in Japan. While in Honolulu I started my career in mortgage as a receptionist, then as a shipper, and I quickly grew a fondness for assisting military and veterans after seeing firsthand the sacrifices they make.
After the Gulf War began, I moved back to Louisiana and worked as a loan processor, then as a loan originator. During this time, I also began teaching classes at military reserve centers and found that many veterans, including my own uncle, knew very little about the VA programs available to assist with homebuying. I continue to educate and assist veterans today, considering it an honor to help our heroes achieve their homebuying goals.
I moved companies in 1999 and remained there until 2007 when my mother retired from the business. I then became a branch manager for another company and managed two offices near Baton Rouge. During the mortgage crisis, the company was bought out several times until finally becoming branches under SWBC Mortgage. In 2014, I was offered the position of branch manager for the Killeen, Texas branch. I remain there today and continue to hold dual licenses in both Louisiana and Texas, offering me the ability to serve the clients I have assisted for more than 24 years in Louisiana, as well as new clients in Texas.
In the midst of establishing a successful career, I also raised a family with my husband, John. I have a 13-year-old daughter, Charli, and a 22-year-old son, Jakeb, who lives in Dallas. I am a dog lover and have a few at home who are part of the family: a Chihuahua, two dachshunds, and a French bulldog puppy, who is our newest addition.
I continue to enjoy and thrive in my career. I welcome the unique challenges that each day brings, and make it my priority to ensure each client experiences a smooth transaction.
