3 Steps to Begin Your Kitchen Renovation

3 Steps to Begin Your Kitchen Renovation

Most people say that the kitchen is the heart of the home. It’s where family and friends gather, and where you probably spend time at least once a day, even if you don’t necessarily cook daily. For this, and many other reasons, you may be considering updating your kitchen. If that’s the case, you’ve come to the right place! We have three tips for you to start your kitchen renovation.

1. Create a wish list

Depending on how you use your kitchen, you’ll have certain priorities on what needs updating. Make a list to ensure you keep these top of mind. Visit websites like Pinterest to get ideas of possible cost-saving tips, and prioritize what you need to update most.

2. Make a budget

Setting a realistic budget may just be the most important step. Armed with a wish list of projects that are priority, you can decide how much you’re willing to spend on each. This may even cause you to reconsider items on your wish list, and that’s perfectly fine. Your goal is to keep your projects on track with your budget rather than spend too much.

3. Research professionals to do the job

Almost everyone will consider the same option: Can I do this project on my own? The answer may be yes, but be sure to do a good amount of research and feel confident that you can complete the job before starting. Use all your resources to be sure you can complete the job, including watching videos of the process on YouTube and speaking with professionals you know who have done the job themselves.

More than likely, you’ll end up needing to hire a contractor. Make sure you consider the impact this will have on your budget. If your funds allow, hiring a contractor may be the best option since they’ll manage everything for you, and even help you plan out your timeline and budget.

Ready to get started? There are financing options that can help you with funding your renovation. Some even allow you to refinance your home and include the cost of the renovation in the loan balance!
