Q&A With Justin
Where did you grow up?
I’m a native Texan, born and raised in the small town of Edna on the Texas gulf coast.
How long have you lived in the area?
We’ve been in Austin for 10 years.
Tell us about your family.
My wife Athena hails from Vancouver, Canada, and owns/operates a handful of blow dry salons in Central Texas. Our daughter Areia is a second grader at BridgePoint Elementary near our home in Davenport Ranch.
Tell us about the events that led up to where you are now (i.e. education, career path).
I attended Texas A&M University before starting my career in real estate in 2004. I’ve been a licensed loan officer in Texas since 2006.
What is unique about your business (what sets you apart from the rest)?
Succeeding in business of any kind, in my opinion, really consists of three things; the right people, efficient systems, and a lot of hard work. In my office, we’ve built a team of knowledgeable professionals that makes a very complicated process run smooth and efficiently and our borrowers often become customers for life. Additionally, we are backed by SWBC, a 40-year old diversified financial services company headquartered in San Antonio.
We have been recognized as one of the "Best Companies to Work for in Texas" by the Texas Association of Business and the publishers of Texas Monthly Magazine for five consecutive years.
Given your business expertise and the nature of what you do, what advice (whether general or specific) can you offer?
I think we can all be thankful that we are fortunate enough to live in Austin, or Texas, in general. For real estate owners, we’ve seen an unprecedented increase in property values—which coupled with record low interest rates—has created an incredible opportunity to increase personal net worth. For anyone considering a real estate purchase, local economists aren’t predicting a slow-down anytime soon, so it’s not too late. Demand for housing (which pushes property values higher) is high due to job growth, which most experts feel will continue for the next two to three years or longer. With interest rates at record lows, now is also a great time to consider a refinance of your existing mortgage, or a renovation loan to update your kitchen or build a relaxing escape in your backyard while lowering your interest rate at the same time.
